Real-Life 'Inception'

Most of the readers viewing this post would have seen the 2010 Hollywood Blockbuster movie 'Inception' starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Truly, it makes us want to be in the actors' shoes and try being in a dream!

Well, to tell the truth, the concept is not completely fiction. We can try out something similar and very close to what has been shown in the film, known as 'Lucid Dreaming', in real life.

Let us get a basic idea of what Lucid Dreaming is. A lucid dream, in simplest terms, is a dream in which the dreamer is aware that he/she is dreaming. Though it seems hard to believe at first, it is in fact possible.
It can begin in one of two ways: a dream-initiated lucid dream (DILD) in which a normal dream makes the viewer conclude that he was watching a dream, or a wake-initiated lucid dream (WILD) where a person goes directly from an awake state into a lucid dream.

There are three steps to achieve lucid dreaming. They are:

1. Dream Recall: Try your best to remember your dreams when you wake up. Try maintaining a written dream journal if you find it too difficult. This increases awareness of dreams in general and helps to differentiate between the real and dream worlds

2. Take control of your dream: Once you are aware that what you are in is just a dream, you'll be able to gradually control the elements and surroundings in the dream (just like in the movie) with practice.

3. Taking it to an even further level: Once you are able to see the dreams the way you want them to happen, they start to come in handy in solving real-life problems and getting much-needed help during dire situations.

Anyways, i think this much is more than enough for this post.
